The Start Of Queen Songs

Queen Songs.

In this dim and distant past,there was a popular music rock band called Queen. This short article is dedicated to all who played those fantastic Queen Songs. Freddie Mercury, Brain May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon, which if I remember correctly was the bands line up in 1971.

While doing a little research on the internet, I discovered they had a grand total of 39 songs on the original vinyl records. Of course the one that anyone worth their salt knows is Queen Bohemian Rhapsody. Others which stand out are, We Will Rock You, Killer Queen and Dont Stop Me Now.

With the band starting out at the end of the 1960\\\’s, they seemed to find their legs when Freddie Mercury started to front the band and sang lead. The album which seem to bring Queen recognition,was the album \\\’Sheer Heart Attack\\\’,released in 1974 and in 1975 the album \\\’A Night at The Opera\\\’.

A little history on the band. 1968/9 -1973. Brian May,Tim Staffell joined up with drummer Roger Taylor to form a band called \\\’Smile\\\’ while at London\\\’s Imperial Collage and singed to Mercury Records that year. Tim Staffell was a student at Ealing Art Collage with Farrokh Bulsara. Tim introduced Farrohk to the band and he became a great fan. Tim left to join another band called Humpy Bong,with Farrohk – later changing his name to Freddie Mercury – joined the band as the vocalist. They changed the bands name to \”Queen\”. The band did not really settle, until John Deacon joined as bass player in February 1971. There was then a period of time while the band gelled together and not until 1974 that the band hit mainstream success. The Queen 2 album witch reach number 5 in the album charts and had the lead single \\\’Seven Sea\\\’s of Rye\\\’ with reached number 10 in the UK singles chart.

Big Time.

The band third album \\\’Sheer Heart Attack\\\’ reach number 2 in the UK and sold well in Europe,going gold in US. Then the forth album \\\’A Night at The Opera\\\’ really put the band on the map. Queen songs from the album were of course the now legendary Bohemian Rhapsody and the amazing video which at the time was ground breaking visual effects. The rest as they say, is history.

Sadly Freddie Mercury passed away in 1991 and another band member John Deacon retired in 1997.

Nickelback Album and Nickelback Songs

A Canadian rock band formed by six artists, Nickelback is a very well known group playing music which can be classified as Post-grunge style. One of the founder members used to work for Starbucks, the renowned coffeehouse chain, where he used to say frequently to the customers while giving back the change â?? â??here is your nickel backâ??, and the name of the band is derived from that pleasant experience.

In Canada, the band is marketed by EMI, but has signed up with Roadrunner records for business in the rest of the world. The business involves recordings, tours, related rights and trivia. The first album release of Nickelback was as far back in 1996. Thereafter the band has brought out musical albums with regularity. It is said that Nickelback is the next best thing to come out of Canada after the revered maple syrup.

The first album produced by Nickelback was Hesher in 1996. It consisted of seven tracks. Even though the band started as a country group, it has grown up and is known throughout the world for its unique style and sound. The fan base of the band is also growing day by day. The band is giving concerts in more countries than before.

Immediately after the release of Hesher, Nickelback recorded another album, Curb. It was the first full length album ever produced by the band. Then came a single, Fly, which was played on local radio stations only. Nickelback songs are unique in nature and this has helped the band to carve out a niche for itself in the world of music.

The Nickelback album called The State was released in 1998. It did not meet the expected success initially and the band tied up with EMI and Roadrunner Records for a record sum to market its songs. The State, which was re-released by EMI and Roadrunner in 2000, fetched the band a Gold certificate in both United States and Canada.

The album Silver Side Up, released in 2001, put wings into the dreams of Nickelback. The band got acceptance in the mainstream music industry field with this. A single song, â??How You Remind Meâ?? led the charts in US. The Long Road, recorded in 2003 also garnered attention and praise.

However, it was the fifth album, All the Right Reasons, which propelled Nickelback to such heights that we see today. Five songs from the album found themselves in the list of top 20 songs in the US. It should be noted here that three of these songs were charted in the top ten too. The latest album, Dark Horse, released in November 2008, has already climbed several ladders. Some of the tracks have already entered the top 100 and sales are also great.

Effective Band Rehearsal

If your band is in rehearsals, either preparing for gigging, or
practising new songs to add to your repertoire, the chances are you
will have to hire a rehearsal room. The costs of hiring a room can soon
mount up if you don’t organise your time effectively. You could be
wasting time and money going around in circles, with a growing
frustration that your band doesn’t seem to be making any progress.

The answer is to set a Schedule for your rehearsals. Without a
schedule it’s difficult to monitor progress if in fact any is made.
Disorganised rehearsals can soon turn into chaos, with everyone
throwing in ideas and playing different things at the same time. The
rehearsal is not the time for your guitarist to hone his right hand
tapping skills, or your drummer to perfect his lightning fast
paradiddles, it is valuable time for working together as a band, and
should be used as such. Band members should have their own private
schedules for practising instruments and learning new techniques.
During a rehearsal you should all be working towards the same goal and
making each other sound as good as possible. The rehearsal should never
turn into a ‘who can play the loudest’ competition.

What should your schedule consist of?

Set goals for your rehearsal times and WRITE THEM DOWN! You should
know which songs you are going to rehearse in advance. If you have
planned your strategy, you will avoid getting stuck in a rut and your
time will be used constructively. Songs you already know can be
perfected and the little nuances worked on, stamping your own identity
on cover songs and putting the finishing touches to originals.

You should make a list of ‘finished’ songs, ‘work in progress’
songs, and ‘new ideas’. As each one progresses, move it up into the
next category, thereby revising the schedule for your next rehearsal.

I would suggest starting with 2 or 3 songs you are happy and
comfortable with, simply to give the band a positive vibe to build on,
and then start work on new numbers. Set aside a certain amount of time
for each song, and then move on! Don’t waste time trying to perfect
something that just isn’t working, you can come back to it later or at
the next rehearsal. Perfect the numbers that do work, and you will see
positive results as your repertoire builds up considerably.

Always take regular breaks. Coming back to a number that wasn’t
going too well with fresh ears can often be all it needs to make a
distinct improvement. If that doesn’t help, there’s no point in
flogging a dead horse, so move it to the bottom of the list or consider
dropping the song altogether and concentrating on another one.

Work on band dynamics and expression, i.e. fast, slow, loud, and
quiet. Get your fills as tight and as fluent as possible. What you are
working on is that elusive ‘feel’ that is the hallmark of a good band.
Everybody should not only be playing his/her own instrument, but also
actively listening to the rest of the band.

Tape your rehearsal. You don’t need any fancy recording equipment -
a simple tape deck and mic will be sufficient. The idea is simply for
the band to be able to listen to their efforts afterwards. Listening to
a song while you’re not playing means you can listen more subjectively
and discuss the merits. Take notes while you listen, that way you are
already forming the schedule for the next rehearsal.

And finally, remember; you are in a band! As such, the sum of the parts should be greater than the individual contribution.

Slipknot and Nickelback Songs

Slipknot and Nickelback are premier heavy metal bands hailing from United States and Canada respectively. Both have dedicated fan following, release albums periodically and give live performances in world stages. It seems that these bands have turned rock music on its head with varied themes and music styles.

Nickelback has produced six studio albums, one compilation album, twenty-two single songs and seven video albums till now. Although initially the band was country based, they are well known now in different countries including United States and Canada. With such unique songs under its belt, Nickelback has transcended all borders, including political and mental. Initially, it was the youth that got attracted to Nickelback songs, but people from other age groups are also found to be increasingly appreciative to this style of heavy music.

How To Get A Song Published

It is sometimes difficult to realize that music, despite its nebulous distinction as “one of the arts,” is actually regarded as a commodity and is bought, exploited, distributed and sold in much the same way as other commodities. Upon this fact is based the music industry which embraces hundreds of publishing firms, thousands of professional songwriters, wholesalers, dealers, orchestras, radio performers, recording companies and music associations, and which impinges upon the allied fields of motion pictures, drama and radio.
Just what is involved in the “publishing” of a song? Let us follow a song from its manuscript stage to ultimate publication and exploitation. To simplify the procedure, let us assume that this song has been written by a professional songwriter.
The first step, in this case, is an audition before the professional manager of the publishing firm. If the songwriter is a competent pianist, he will perform the number himself. If this shouldn’t be the case, he will either ask a friend or the firm’s piano player to perform the piece.
The professional manager may suggest a few changes either in the melody or lyric. After these revisions have been made (occasionally, the publisher may have one of his own arrangers “doctor up the tune”) the song is accepted for publication and a standard royalty contract is signed by the publisher and songwriter. The publisher then has a few “scratch” orchestrations (handwritten) made by his arranging staff and turns these orchestrations to the song-plugger whose contacts are best able to handle the initial promotion of the number.
The song-plugger may be asked to contact a bandleader and a radio singer for the initial plugs. The bandleader may be contacted during rehearsal, or between performances. The plug may be requested in any number of ways, depending upon the song-plugger’s methods, the attitude of the bandleader, etc. However, a possible procedure would be for the song-plugger to approach the bandleader on a friendly basis, discuss “shop” for awhile, and casually introduce the fact that he has a brand new number which is just suited to the style and instrumentation of the band.
After building up the reputation and previous successes of the songwriter, the song-plugger may be able to persuade the bandleader to try out the number in rehearsal. Here, again, changes may be suggested. After these have been effected and, always assuming that the number has actual merit, the bandleader may consent to perform the number. For this purpose, he may have his own arranger make a new orchestration conforming to the particular style of the orchestra, or he might request the publisher to have a special arrangement made.
After the number has been performed, the song-plugger will try to get further plugs from the same bandleader and will also approach other top-flight bandleaders for plugs. The publisher does not have to concern himself with the smaller and lesser-known bands, for if the number is performed successfully by the topflight bands, the smaller bands will follow suit and jump on the “band-wagon.”
The radio star is approached in much the same manner, although in this case a special vocal arrangement may have to be made.
By using different performers, and concentrating on constant plugging, the publisher soon builds up a demand for his song. Actual printing is then started, although this at first is restricted to a small quantity. As the song gains in popularity more and more plugs are obtained without the intervention of the song-plugger. Radio performances, band performances, and recordings are made to meet the public demand.
Dealers begin ordering quantities of sheet music from their jobbers and printing goes into full swing. When the song is finally “on its own,” the song-plugger’s activities slow down and he begins to concentrate upon another new number of his publisher’s. However, when the popularity of the song begins to fade and the sales start to drop, the song-plugger resumes plugging the song in an effort to keep it alive as long as possible.
This is the usual route taken by a song to become well-known and possibly a “hit.” Now that you know what happens, it is time to launch your own!

After that, the new Beatle music band had the first concert to welcome new member, Pete. In December 1943, Harrison was arrested by German police and sent him back to his hometown because he was too young and after him, the guys from Liverpool were also sent back to their home country.

In the year 1960, the Beatles started their concert performance again in Cavern Club in Liverpool, and this place was the beginning of their success story. They had almost 300 performances at this place and then they decided to go back to German in April 1961. At this time, one of the band members decided to leave the band to be full time artist and they became four instead of five.

Paul compulsorily had to play bass guitar as well. After that, the Beatles performed concerts in Liverpool many times until 9 November 1961, Brian, the owner of music record, came to see their concert. Brian’s customers had asked him for “Bonnie” which is the song that The Beatles had made the record in Germany few months ago. Two months later, Brian became the first band manager for The Beatles who changed the look of all members of the band including their hairs

Wedding Band Hampshire – Planning the first dance at your wedding

Most couples have a song that is special to them and it is traditional for the bride and groom to start the wedding evening’s party by dancing to their chosen song (although this is not set in stone!). Although this is not compulsory, it is a nice way to start the evening as all the wedding guests (including those who have just arrived for the evening) get to see the embarrassed couple gaze lovingly into each others eyes as they smooch around the dance floor to the flash of cameras. In actual fact it’s not that embarrassing; a good wedding band will let the couple dance alone and then after a minute or so will invite everyone else up to join the bride and groom. With the dance floor full of smooching couples it is then easy to go straight into a party or dance song and so the evening’s entertainment begins.

Whether or not the first song if played live by the wedding band or from the original CD will depend on a number of things; does the band already have the song in their set-list? If not, are they prepared to learn it (assuming they have time)? If they are willing to learn it will they do it justice (a three-piece band that does pubs every weekend may be able to do a version of your special song, but will you be happy with their interpretation as your first dance)?

Ultimately the answer to this question is to talk to the band. If you can arrange to see them play live you will get a good idea of their abilities based on how they cover the songs they already do. Good bands always try to learn a couple’s first song if it is not already in their set-list, especially if it is a song that we can be used again. Good bands will also, however, have no hesitation in recommending that the original CD version be played if they thought that they could not learn it in time or not do it justice! Beware of copyright issues though; bands will have this covered for live performances but if you want to play a CD, speak to the venue first to see if they are covered. You are unlikely to experience a problem with the publisher, but you never know!

I can’t think of a worse way to start someone’s special wedding evening than a band playing a very lame version of a song that should have special meaning to the bride and groom. If you want to do that crazy killer-dance that is so often seen on YouTube, you’ll need a good quality dance band. Please note; the sooner you let the band know what you want then the more chance you have of getting it – don’t be disappointed if you ask the band 2 days before your wedding to learn a specific song only to be told that it is not going to happen! So plan ahead, think about what song both you and your partner would like that first dance to be, then find a good band and speak to them; they will generally have great advice for you.

Most of all? Just relax on the night, stare into your partners eyes and get everyone in the room gushing and weeping at the lovely romantic sight of you both dancing for the first time as husband and wife.
